About the show

The Lowdown

Remember the Vessel? That giant honeycomb staircase in Hudson Yards that went viral, got everyone's step count up, and then kept getting shut down? Brendan George turned the whole saga into a comedy, and it's landing at 59E59 this summer. The Vessel follows three minimum-wage parks employees who suddenly find themselves at the middle of New York's strangest tourist attraction, fielding the crowds, the chaos, and the questions nobody wants to answer.

Director Peter Charney leads an all-New-York-debut cast, Will Ingram, Anastasia Locke, and Sofonyas, through 90 intermission-free minutes of very-online, very-NYC absurdity. It's a small room (59E59's intimate Theater C), which is exactly where a sharp new comedy like this belongs: close enough to catch every eye-roll. If you've ever stood at the bottom of a shiny landmark wondering who actually keeps the thing running, this is your show.

Previews start July 30; the run climbs through August 23. Grab a seat before the line wraps around the block.

Won a seat to The Vessel for the price of a deli lunch? Struck out a dozen times trying? Either way, the next New Yorker hitting refresh on the lottery wants to hear about it. Be the first on the board.
