About the show

The Lowdown

Thirty plays. Sixty minutes. A kitchen timer. The New York Neo-Futurists have been running some version of this experiment for years, and The Infinite Wrench is the current one, playing at Asylum NYC on East 24th Street.

Here is how it works. Thirty short plays are strung on a clothesline above the stage, each with a number. You shout a number. They perform that play. Some are two minutes long, some are eleven seconds, some are funny, some will quietly wreck you, and the running order is different every single night because you picked it.

The performers write the pieces themselves and they play themselves — no characters, no fourth wall, no pretending the room is anywhere other than a room on East 24th Street. Plays retire and new ones arrive every week, so nobody sees the same show twice, including the cast.

The current engagement runs through September 26, 2026. Asylum seats about 150, it is late, it is loud, and it is one of the few nights out in this city where you are partly responsible for what happens.

Won a seat to The Infinite Wrench for the price of a deli lunch? Struck out a dozen times trying? Either way, the next New Yorker hitting refresh on the lottery wants to hear about it. Be the first on the board.
