Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.
Where to Buy Tickets
The Lowdown
New John Patrick Shanley? In the West Village? Yes please. The Pulitzer and Oscar winner behind Doubt and Moonstruck has a world premiere Off-Broadway this fall, and Mountain Girl plays the 154 Theatre on Christopher Street from November 4 to 22, 2026, with opening night on November 6.
Shanley calls it a comic fable. Connie is an aspiring writer whose marriage is falling apart, so she does what so many of us do in a crisis and heads home to Colorado to face her mother. The reunion stirs up the old stuff, from the writing dreams she set aside to a childhood shaped by her parents' rocky marriage. The title comes from a story Connie never finished and her mom never forgot. Ouch, and also, relatable.
Ivette Dumeng directs a cast of three, Tonya Cornelisse, Sophia DeMornay-O'Neal and Joey Welsh, for NylonFusion Theatre Company and Axial Theatre. The play has been brewing for a while, with work-in-progress presentations in Los Angeles and a workshop in Paris.
It is a short three-week run in an intimate house, so call your mom, then grab tickets before they are gone.
