Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
Scrooge is back downtown, and this year he looks a lot like Andy Karl. The three-time Tony nominee and Olivier winner takes on the grumpiest man in literature in A Christmas Carol at the Perelman Performing Arts Center, the gleaming cube next to the World Trade Center. Last season Michael Cerveris wore the nightcap; now Karl gets his turn to be haunted.
This is the Old Vic production: Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) wrote the version, and Matthew Warchus (Matilda) conceived and directed it. It won five Tony Awards on Broadway, and it is not your school-assembly Dickens. The audience sits wrapped around the action, carols fill the room, snacks rain down, and four ghosts (yes, four) walk a very cold miser through the life he wasted on spreadsheets.
Performances run November 20, 2026 through January 3, 2027, about two hours with one intermission. Bring the family, bring the friend who says they hate Christmas, and watch them try to hold it together during the turkey scene.
