About the show

The Lowdown

Two women, thirty years apart, sat in front of the U.S. Senate and told the truth while the whole country watched. Elizabeth Marvel and Lee Sunday Evans took the actual transcripts of Anita Hill's 1991 testimony and Christine Blasey Ford's 2018 testimony and built a verbatim play out of them — every line lifted straight from the record. Gabby Beans plays Anita Hill, Marvel plays Christine Blasey Ford, and Teagle Bougere and Josh Hamilton round out the cast. It runs at BAM Fisher's Fishman Space in Brooklyn for a tight two-week window in September, produced by Waterwell. No embellishment, no melodrama — just the words, laid side by side, so you can hear how much and how little changed in three decades. It sounds like homework and plays like a gut punch. Bring a friend who likes to argue in the lobby afterward, because you will.
