Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
Penguins cannot fly. This penguin has heard that and would like a second opinion.
Penguin Goes to Flight School is Vital Theatre Company's musical for the two-to-seven crowd, and it is exactly as cheerful as that sounds. Our hero enrolls in flight school, discovers that biology is not on his side, and gets on with it anyway — with help from friends who never once suggest he be realistic.
It runs about fifty-five minutes, which is roughly the attention span of the target audience, and it plays selected Sunday mornings at 11 AM at the Actors Temple Theatre on West 47th Street.
Performances run September 27 through October 25, 2026. Tickets run $29.50 to $69.50. Bring a small person; they will be up early anyway.
