About the show

The Lowdown

The premise has not changed since the first year and does not need to. One member of the cast takes five shots of whiskey. Everybody else stays sober and tries to get through Dracula anyway. It goes how you would expect, which is the entire point.

Drunk Dracula is back at The Ruby Theatre on West 39th Street for a third season, September 15 through November 7, 2026, from the Drunk Shakespeare Society — the same people who ran Drunk Shakespeare in that room for ten years. Transylvania's thirstiest bachelor gets an epic retelling, the retelling goes sideways, and the cast improvises its way back to the plot while the audience watches someone genuinely lose the thread.

The room is the reason this works. The Ruby seats in the round, three rows deep, with the stage in the middle and the audience all the way around it — nobody is far away and nobody is safe. There is a throne if you want to pay to be royalty for the night, and yes, the throne comes with consequences.

It runs through November 7 and it is a bar show as much as a play, so plan accordingly. Tickets at drunkdracula.com, 35 West 39th Street.

Won a seat to Drunk Dracula for the price of a deli lunch? Struck out a dozen times trying? Either way, the next New Yorker hitting refresh on the lottery wants to hear about it. Be the first on the board.
