Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

Victoria Clark is back on a New York stage, and she is playing a woman on an atoll in the South Pacific studying a shrinking population of migratory birds. Her husband Greg is there too, doing... something. He is not sure what. He is doing his best. Marriages have ended over less.
Human Things is a world premiere by Joshua Owen, directed by Rory McGregor, and it is the good kind of small play — four people, one very remote island, and a slow realization that the weather is not the only thing turning. When Bo and Darce wash up after crashing their beloved boat into a coral reef, they bring a storm with them, and it reshapes things both enormous and tiny.
Clark is joined by Rebeca Robles, Ben Rosenfield, and Michael Mulheren. The West End Theatre up on West 86th is about as far from Times Square as Off-Broadway gets, which is part of the charm — you go uptown, you sit close, you watch four terrific actors work.
Previews begin September 12, opening night is September 25, and the run ends October 18.
