Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
It is 1984. Halston has a deadline. The client is Queen Elizabeth I, who has been dead since 1603 and has opinions about the neckline.
Queen for a Day makes its New York premiere at The Tank with a premise that has no business working and works anyway. Halston agrees to build a gown for the long-dead monarch by the end of the day, which would be hard enough without Liza Minnelli turning up mid-crisis wanting help with her new act.
Will Lidke plays Halston, Tyler Anthony Smith is Elizabeth I, and Dakota Hughes is Liza. The whole thing runs about seventy-five minutes, which is exactly the right length for a joke this committed.
Performances run September 4 through 14, 2026 at The Tank on West 36th Street. It is a small room and a short run, so this is not one to think about for three weeks.
