Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
Hamlet has a lot going on in his head. In Hamlet Split Apart, that head gets three bodies. RJ Theatre Company splits the Prince of Denmark across three performers: a needy child, an angry teenager and the responsible adult who is supposed to be in charge, all fighting over what to do about a murdered father and a very suspicious uncle.
Emma Tadmor adapted and directs this version, which started as a cut by Gary Lagden at RADA in 2018 and was developed with a clinical psychologist. Shakespeare's words stay in, framed by contemporary English, with an original score on a bare stage. The whole thing runs about 60 minutes with no intermission, so you get the soliloquies and still make dinner.
The cast includes Rupert Fennessy, Patrick Eckland, Benjamin Mekai, Christian Frazier, Gerard DeBenedetto, Emma Tadmor, Maximilien Schmitt and Marco Villard, with Archie Colville. The production first played The Flea in 2023.
Six performances only, October 30 through November 15, 2026, at AMT Theater, 354 West 45th Street. If you have ever wanted to watch Hamlet argue with himself out loud, and actually lose, this is the one.
