Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

Sarah Jones, the Tony winner who can turn into an entire city block of people without changing costume, is bringing her shape-shifting solo show back to New York. Pulling characters from her own multiracial family and the country's messy past, she asks the question nobody agrees on: who actually gets to tell the story of America?
America, Who Hurt You? played a short September run at TFANA's Polonsky Shakespeare Center in Brooklyn, presented with National Black Theatre and directed by Eric Ting. Now it crosses the river to The Public Theater as part of the 2027 Under the Radar festival. One performer, a whole nation, and about a dozen accents you'll swear came from different actors.
The return engagement runs January 6 to 24, 2027. It is short, so if you missed it in Brooklyn, this is your second chance.
