About the show

The Lowdown

St. Louis, the Depression. Edward Schiller counts shoes for a living at the Continental Shoe Company and writes poems on the side, the kind of tender stuff his world has zero patience for. Then somebody finds the poems, and they stop being private and start being evidence.

Flight is Kari Margolis's solo show based on Tennessee Williams's semi-autobiographical short story "Episodes in the Life of a Clerk." It opens with a commotion on Washington Avenue, where someone has just fallen from the shoe company's roof, and then works backwards through what got us there. Expect original music, multimedia, and a mix of laughs and heartbreak that feels very Williams before he was Williams.

Jarod Hanson plays the whole thing solo for MB Adaptors in Theater C, the smallest and closest room at 59E59 Theaters.

Performances run March 25 to April 24, 2027. Required viewing for anyone who has ever hidden a notebook in a desk drawer at work.

Won a seat to Flight for the price of a deli lunch? Struck out a dozen times trying? Either way, the next New Yorker hitting refresh on the lottery wants to hear about it. Be the first on the board.
