Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
Vancouver, 1963. Japantown is changing fast, and a young man named Sam is in the middle of it, pushing back against people with a lot more power than he has. There's a ruthless developer named Alexander, his missing wife Yumiko, a police detective named Kadota whose loyalties are hard to read, and Rosie, who runs the cafe where everybody ends up.
Fire in the New World is R.A. Shiomi's mystery about anti-Asian racism, postwar resentment and a neighborhood being priced out from under its people. Ron Nakahara directs. It's part of Pan Asian Repertory Theatre's 50th season, which is a milestone worth celebrating for one of New York's oldest Asian American theater companies.
It runs February 2 through February 28, 2027 at Theatre Row on West 42nd Street. Cast and the full creative team are still to be announced. We'll post them here, along with any ticket deals, as soon as they're out.
