Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.
Where to Buy Tickets
The Lowdown
The Great War is over, and John and Gwen Freeman are done pretending everything is fine. The siblings come home disillusioned and full of radical new ideas about love, sex and marriage, which would be a lot easier to live out if they weren't still under their parents' roof.
The Fanatics is Miles Malleson's play from the 1920s, and Mint Theater Company, the people who make a habit of rescuing great forgotten plays, is bringing it back with Davis McCallum directing. It runs hot with postwar anger and it is surprisingly funny about a family that cannot agree on anything. It also sees the next war coming, which gives it a bite that feels very current.
It plays Theatre Row on West 42nd Street from February 13 through March 20, 2027. Casting has not been announced yet. Mint usually offers low-cost CheapTix seats, so keep an eye out when tickets open.
