Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

Tilda Swinton. On a stage. In the West Village. Read that again, because it has never happened before. The Oscar winner makes her New York stage debut in Man to Man, Manfred Karge's play about a German woman who, after her husband dies in the 1930s, puts on his trousers and simply never takes them off.
She takes his name, his job and his identity, and then she has to keep the act going through war, dictatorship, hunger and every small humiliation the century throws at her. It is a survival story told by one very stubborn person, and Swinton knows it well: she played the role in the UK premiere decades ago and is coming back to it now.
Stephen Unwin directs and revised the text, working from Anthony Vivis's translation, with design by Bunny Christie.
Performances start February 21, 2027 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on Christopher Street, with opening night on February 28. It is a strictly limited eight-week run in a 299-seat house, and the words "Tilda Swinton" tend to empty a ticket queue fast. Set an alert and move quickly.
