Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
You Seem Sad is a brand-new play from Leah Nanako Winkler, getting its world premiere at WP Theater on the Upper West Side from April 3 to May 2, 2027 (opening night April 18).
Two women, two eras, one surprisingly funny title. Keiko is a young atomic-bomb survivor rebuilding her life in 1950s Nagasaki and refusing to apologize for any of it. Decades later, "Student 1" is a half-Japanese twenty-something in early-2000s New York, wrestling with her career, her love life and who she even is. The play weaves their stories together and lets memory, history and personal pain bump into each other.
May Adrales directs. It's a co-production of Ma-Yi Theater Company and WP Theater, in association with the Lucille Lortel Theatre, so three companies that know their way around new plays are all in on this one.
WP Theater is a cozy house at 2162 Broadway at 76th Street, which means every seat is a good seat and you can grab a bagel on the way in. Put it on the spring calendar now.
