Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
Two couples, one kitchen table, and a whole lot of opinions. What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank is Nathan Englander's stage version of his own famous short story, making its New York premiere at The Public.
When two Jewish couples with very different views on faith and family get together for an afternoon, the small talk does not stay small for long. It's a sharp, very funny comedy about identity, politics and parenthood, and it goes somewhere you won't see coming. Patrick Marber, the writer of Closer and the director of Leopoldstadt, directs.
It plays The Public's 99-seat Barbaralee Theater on Lafayette Street, April 8 to May 2, 2027, with opening night April 20. Tickets go on sale October 21, and casting is still to come.
