About the show

The Lowdown

The Phantom of the Opera is the longest-running, beloved and critically acclaimed Broadway production, based on Gaston Leroux’s horror novel, which tells the story of a mysterious, disfigured musical genius known only as the Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House. He becomes obsessed with a young soprano, Christine, and uses his talents to help her become a star. However, their relationship is tumultuous and ultimately tragic. The show features memorable songs such as “The Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” and “Masquerade.”

Our verdict

My 12-year-old daughter and I have seen Phanton of Opera on Broadway 5 times each. We were able to get front row seats by winning the lottery on two occasions. I am sad this is closing, but plan to see the show again before then.

Won a seat to Phantom of the Opera for the price of a deli lunch? Struck out a dozen times trying? Either way, the next New Yorker hitting refresh on the lottery wants to hear about it. Be the first on the board.
