The play follows Brooke Wyeth, a once-promising novelist who returns home to Palm Springs after a six-year absence to spend Christmas with her family — former members of the Reagan inner circle. When Brooke announces she’s about to publish a memoir digging into a buried chapter of the family’s past, the holiday turns into a very civilized war. Think Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? but with better wine and worse secrets.
The original 2011-12 Broadway production won a Tony for Judith Light and ran for nearly 250 performances. This revival promises to take that legacy and crank it up several notches with one of the most exciting casts assembled for a Broadway drama in years. Details on theater and dates are still TBA, but when tickets drop, they will go fast.
This is the kind of show that makes you feel genuinely lucky to live near Manhattan. Keep an eye on this one.
