The Show
The Theatre
The Lowdown
The show tracks Alexander Hamilton’s rise from a Caribbean orphan to the man who printed the nation’s money before getting himself shot. It manages to make the Federalist Papers sound like a chart-topping radio hit, which is a feat of engineering even the most cynical New Yorker can respect. The production relies on a hip-hop narrative that remains sharp, even if the surrounding tourist crush in the Theater District makes you want to hide in a basement in Queens. If you enjoy rapid-fire exposition and men in waistcoats bickering about fiscal policy, this is your speed. Go if you have the patience for the crowd. Skip it if you prefer your history without a rhythmic beat.

Our verdict
My wife and I won Lottery Tickets for Hamilton and the entire experience was incredible. Each usher that saw our tickets looked at us with amazement and awe. They all were so excited for us, and after finally being able to understand the musical rhythm I understand why. The play was excited and full of energy. Who knew that learning history could be fun. Also, who knew that Alexandar Hamilton was the creator of the US banking system.

Won a seat to Hamilton for the price of a deli lunch? Struck out a dozen times trying? Either way, the next New Yorker hitting refresh on the lottery wants to hear about it. Be the first on the board.
