Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

Three generations of women, one kitchen, and a recipe that turns out to be carrying more than lunch.
In Benjamin Benne's play, the family gathers on Christmas Eve to make chuchitos — the Guatemalan masa parcels that take all day and everybody's hands. The granddaughters decide to write the recipe down before it goes. What they find out, over nearly two decades of Christmas Eves, is that writing a thing down and keeping it are not the same act, and that some of what the family has been passing along was never in the ingredients.
Primary Stages produces, at 59E59. It runs 90 minutes straight through, which keeps the years stacking without giving you a break to sort them out — that is the point.
Performances run November 7 through December 20, which puts it squarely in the stretch when a play about family, food and what gets lost lands hardest.
