Sunset Boulevard
Norma Desmond has waited long enough — and in 2024, she finally got her Broadway close-up in the most jaw-dropping way possible. Jamie Lloyd’s radical, design-stripped revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic landed at the St. James Theatre with Nicole Scherzinger in the role she was born to play. No lavish sets. No opulent costumes. Just Scherzinger standing in a spotlight, delivering “With One Look” and “As If We Never Said Goodbye” with the kind of unhinged brilliance that makes your spine vibrate.
The concept: everything stripped back, giant screens, minimal staging, raw emotion front and center. The result: Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Musical AND Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. Scherzinger — making her Broadway debut — became one of those performances people will be talking about for decades. Tom Francis as Joe Gillis, Grace Hodgett Young as Betty Schaefer, and David Thaxton as Max rounded out the London-import cast.
The show ran from September 2024 through July 2025 — 312 regular performances at the St. James Theatre. If you missed it, that’s your fault. The album exists. Blame yourself accordingly.
