The Show
The Theatre
The Lowdown
The show drags the Orpheus and Eurydice myth into a bleak, Depression-era industrial nightmare that feels suspiciously like a stalled N train during rush hour. It is jazz-infused folk theater that manages to be both pretentious and genuinely moving. Orpheus is a naive songwriter trying to fix a broken world, while Eurydice is just looking for a warm meal and a place to sleep. The production design is sharp, utilizing a rotating stage that works harder than most interns in this city. It avoids the usual Greek tragedy bloat, opting instead for a gritty, bluesy tension that keeps the plot from feeling like a dusty textbook entry.

Our verdict
Good music and entertaining but I like to leave a show a little bit happier than when I entered. This one was good, but not really for me.
