The Lowdown
The concept: everything stripped back, giant screens, minimal staging, raw emotion front and center. The result: Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Musical AND Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. Scherzinger — making her Broadway debut — became one of those performances people will be talking about for decades. Tom Francis as Joe Gillis, Grace Hodgett Young as Betty Schaefer, and David Thaxton as Max rounded out the London-import cast.
The show ran from September 2024 through July 2025 — 312 regular performances at the St. James Theatre. If you missed it, that’s your fault. The album exists. Blame yourself accordingly.
Reviews
Our verdict
I saw this twice and both times were excellent. The way the cameras are used the way the actors walk out into the street is really cool. The singing is excellent, and the way they are all struggling at the beginning and working together was really cool. The backstabbing and other things that go on throughout the play, and the acting and the actors, were excellent. Definitely see this if it comes back on Broadway.

Won a seat to Sunset Boulevard for the price of a deli lunch? Struck out a dozen times trying? Either way, the next New Yorker hitting refresh on the lottery wants to hear about it. Be the first on the board.
