The Lowdown
The premise is classic: a man so obsessed with his own mortality that he becomes a walking ATM for every grifter in his orbit. It is a cynical look at health-care anxiety that feels surprisingly current for a script written in 1673. With Irwin behind the adaptation and starring in the lead, we can count on enough slapstick to distract us from the fact that we are sitting in a dark room instead of outside. Brandon J. Dirden is directing, and if Roundabout plays their cards right, this should be the rare farce that actually lands. Save your money until the official dates drop, but keep this one on the radar.
