Dog Day Afternoon
It’s the hottest day of August 1972 and two amateur bank robbers have just turned a routine holdup into a hostage crisis that will glue New York City to the news for 14 hours. Stephen Adly Guirgis (Between Riverside and Crazy, The Motherf**ker With the Hat) delivers a new stage adaptation of the true story that became the Oscar-winning 1975 film, with Jon Bernthal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach — the chaos engine at the heart of The Bear — making their Broadway debuts as Sonny and Sal. Directed by two-time Olivier winner Rupert Goold.
August Wilson Theatre, limited engagement closes June 28, 2026.
