Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.
No public door. Performers leave through the lobby, the same way you did. There is nowhere separate to wait.

Ninety-one years ago a room full of taxi drivers argued about whether to strike, the audience started shouting along, and American theatre got one of its loudest nights. Waiting for Lefty has never really cooled off.
Classic Stage Company brings Clifford Odets' Depression-era classic back to East 13th Street this fall, with Steven Pasquale making his directing debut and a cast that includes Tala Ashe, Raffi Barsoumian, Greg Hildreth and Conrad Ricamora. This staging adds live music by Yeller Tooth and movement to a play that was already built to grab you by the collar.
CSC's Lynn F. Angelson Theater seats 199, which is the whole point — Odets wrote this to feel like you wandered into an actual union meeting, not a show.
Previews start October 15 and the run ends November 22. Worth knowing before you buy full price: CSC runs a general rush at $40 and a student rush at $30, sold in person at the box office starting an hour before curtain.
