Stage Door
Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.
Where to Buy Tickets
The Lowdown
Put a pin in spring 2027, because Lucas Hnath has a new play and Deirdre O'Connell is in it. Old Actress gets its world premiere at Atlantic Theater Company, on the Linda Gross Theater stage in Chelsea, running March 18 through April 25, 2027.
Hnath is the writer behind A Doll's House, Part 2, Dana H. and The Thin Place — plays that start somewhere ordinary and then quietly move the floor out from under you. O'Connell, a Tony winner and one of the great watch-her-think performers working today, leads a company that also includes Crystal Finn, Ivan Howe, Julius Rinzel and Stanley Simons. Les Waters directs, reuniting the team behind Dana H.
The Linda Gross seats 199, which means every row is close enough to catch the small stuff — and with this group of collaborators, the small stuff is the whole point. Tickets and full performance details are on the Atlantic Theater Company site; we will update this page as previews, opening night and casting news land.
