Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

The Lowdown
Encores! is closing its 2026-27 season with a big swing: Kiss of the Spider Woman, the Kander and Ebb musical that won the Tony for Best Musical in 1993. Andy Blankenbuehler, the man who choreographed Hamilton, directs and choreographs, which tells you the dancing is going to be a lot.
The setup sounds bleak and plays anything but. Two men share a prison cell in Latin America. Molina, a gay window dresser, gets through the days by retelling the old movies starring his favourite screen diva, Aurora, and the films start spilling into the cell around them. Valentin, a political prisoner, wants no part of it at first. John Kander wrote the music, Fred Ebb the lyrics and Terrence McNally the book, from Manuel Puig's novel.
Casting has not been announced yet. The run is April 28 to May 9, 2027, in the main New York City Center house on West 55th Street, and like every Encores! show it is gone in about two weeks. Spider Woman fans, set a reminder.
