Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

A title with an exclamation mark in it is a promise. Hole! makes that promise at Playwrights Horizons from December 1, 2026 through January 10, 2027, in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on West 42nd Street.
Playwrights Horizons has been developing and premiering new American plays and musicals on that block since 1971, and its track record of sending work onward, to Broadway and into the wider canon, is about as strong as any non-profit in the city. When they give a slot to a new play, it is worth paying attention.
The Peter Jay Sharp is the smaller of their two houses at 128 seats, which is where the company tends to put work that wants an audience leaning in rather than sitting back.
Holiday-season programming at Playwrights Horizons is rarely tinsel and carols, so expect something with more bite than the December calendar usually offers. Check back here for tickets, and for any rush or lottery once it is announced.
