Full guide →When to go. Head straight out at curtain call. Two-show days are the worst bet at both performances — the cast rests through the matinee and is spent by the evening. A Sunday matinee is the best single bet, because it is a one-show day. In bad weather the barricades sometimes never go up at all.
Who comes out. Anywhere from nobody to most of the cast. Nobody can tell you in advance which three — not us, not the theatre. Treat any list that claims otherwise with suspicion.
What to bring. Tonight’s Playbill and a fine-tip Sharpie, held open to the page you want signed. Ask before you photograph anyone, and keep the pavement clear — it is a working door, not a red carpet.

Christina Anderson's play starts with a phone call nobody wants. Janice is asked to come home to Kansas and speak at a ceremony honoring her late father. Her parents spent the 1960s fighting to desegregate the town's public pools. Janice spent the years after that trying to live somewhere the fight could not reach her.
What follows is a family story about water, memory and the bill that comes due for other people's courage. It is funnier than that description suggests, and it does not let anybody off easy.
Tiffany Nichole Greene directs for Playwrights Horizons, on the Mainstage. Previews begin October 21, 2026, with opening night November 18. Go, then call your parents.
