The Lowdown

Our verdict
Disney doing what Disney does best: a big, brassy, golden crowd-pleaser. The flying carpet still gets gasps, 'Friend Like Me' still stops the show — James Monroe Iglehart won a Tony for it — and the whole thing is built to send families out grinning. Not subtle, not trying to be. Pure Broadway comfort food.
