The Lowdown
Ruben Santiago-Hudson won his first Tony Award for the 1996 Broadway premiere of this play. Three decades later he directs it, which is about as good a pedigree as a revival can carry. Seven Guitars is the 1940s chapter of Wilson’s American Century Cycle, and it is the one where the music does the most work — blues, comedy, and grief braided so tightly you stop noticing where one ends.
Lincoln Center Theater stages it at the 299-seat Mitzi E. Newhouse, November 5, 2026 through January 10, 2027. Casting was still in progress at the time of writing. If you are between 21 and 35, LincTix gets you in for $37 — one of the genuinely great deals in town.
